Oak Park, Illinois incorporated in 1902 and is located just 9 miles west of downtown Chicago. The community covers an area of 4.7 square miles and has a population of 50,824 est. Oak Park also is a popular tourist destination in the Chicago area, as many come to view the many Frank Lloyd Wright buildings found throughout the village. In fact, the largest collection of Wright-designed residential properties in the world is in Oak Park. Tourists also come to tour Ernest Hemingway's birthplace home and boyhood home, as well as the Ernest Hemingway Museum. Still others come to view the three Oak Park homes of Tarzan creator Edgar Rice Burroughs.

What Makes Oak Park Unique?
- Oak Park Conservatory- is a conservatory and botanical garden located in the Chicago suburb of Oak Park, Illinois, United States. The conservatory now provides 8,000 square feet of growing areas, making it the third largest conservatory in the Chicago area, and contains more than 3,000 plants, some of which date back to 1914. The Oak Park Conservatory was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on March 8, 2005.
- Country’s 100 Best Communities for Young People - named by America’s Promise Alliance on Jan. 25, 2008, an organization founded by former Secretary of State Colin Powell to help ensure children receive the fundamental building blocks they need to grow into effective adults.
- Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio - at 951 Chicago Avenue in Oak Park, Illinois, has been restored by the Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust to its appearance in 1909, the last year Frank Lloyd Wright lived there with his family. Frank Lloyd Wright purchased the property and built the home in 1889 with a $5,000 loan from his employer Louis Sullivan. He was 22 at the time, and newly wed to Catherine Tobin. The Wrights raised six children in the home. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972 and declared a National Historic Landmark four years later.
